Mad Men Fashion

The show Mad Men returns on April 5 at 10/9c. I'm looking forward to it. The show takes place in 1960's Manhattan at advertising agency, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. We the interaction between executives, colleagues, wives and their children, inside and outside the agency.

This show has so many phenomenal fashion moments, no matter who you are...what your style is, you can't help but get drawn into these eye catching fabulous clothes.

Every single jaw dropping scene has one great outfit after the other.

Eventhough the 60's were loose and free, it was still an era of high fashion and impeccable style. I for one can't wait to see what the ladies are wearing this season. Speaking of the men on the show and their fashion...they look great in those sexy suits.
Let's go into the Mad Men AMC Look book. Click Here: Mad Men Fashion Look Book See the colorful retro dresses, makeup, glamorous up-hairdos, men in tight-fitting suits, the hats, slick glassy polished shoes.
According to many in the media and the general public, Mad Men set the bar high for its historical authenticity, costume design, acting, writing, directing and visual style. It is widely regarded as one of the best television cable series of all time. It has won many wards, including 15 Emmys, for the first cable series for Outstanding Drama Series and four Golden Globes.

Dolce & Gabbana Since 1985

It always amazes me how so many voices in "Hollywood" like to jump on the bandwagon when they don't agree with something or someone. We have a democracy here in the United States, and people are free to speak their minds. For good or bad, we still have the right to express our opinions freely, especially when it comes to fashion.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks" is a quote from the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. I use it here and other areas of this writing merely as a figure of speech, because some people in Hollywood especially, are making all attempts to convince others that something is amiss with the D&G brand, by using a boycott to convince others that these are bad people, when the opposite is true. D&G have always included a since of family in their ad campaigns, as well as amazingly handsome men, earthy people and beautiful women.

The Italian born designers, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana created a brand of clothing with a bohemian chic, haute couture style, that has grown and evolved to enormous depths since their early years, making them billionaires. Their spark and flare have been around for more than a century, and they have made an groundbreaking impact on the fashion world, entertainment community and political arena. D&G continue to make their mark in the fashion world with their visually pleasing magnificent clothing, shoes and accessories.

D&G represent quality, innovation, and cutting edge style. The Ad campaigns are amazing, portraying a diverse group of models from old to young, tall to short. They are fashion royalty and an inspiration.

Domenico Dolce said, "When we design it's like a movie," "We think of a story and we design the clothes to go with it."

Dolce & Gabbana, in an interview with Italian weekly magazine, Panorama, spoke out against the use of surrogate mothers andIn Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Domenico said in that interview, “I’m not convinced with what I call chemical children, a rented uterus, semen selected from a catalogue.” They then went on to say, "life has a natural trajectory, there are things that should not be altered." Dolce noted, "You are born to a mother and a father or at least that's how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog." These are reasonable comments when you look at the totality of the interview.

In an interview with CNN, D&G sai: "I think today we don't need to support or don't support," Dolce said. "You think what you think."

When asked about Elton John and his supporters, Gabbana said, "The life is long, the life is happy. You don't need to be angry for nothing."  Click Here For Full Story: Gabbana Responds to Sir Elton John

This is what I say, "If you can afford to buy D&G, go for it, because it's on of those great brands to have." Having lots of D&G in my closet would make me one happy girl!!!!!

There you have it. A different opinion. #StopTheHateonDolce&Gabbana.

Wearing White After Labor Day. You Betcha!

When that chill graces the air, and the leaves start their change in life, it may be enticing and easy to pull out those browns, blacks, grays, dark colors that one believes they are supposed to wear during this season. On the contrary, white proves to be a great color to wear year round.

The many shades of white blend well with those heavy, rough fabrics of Fall, such as flannel, tweed, denim and wool. They also make for a lighter look overall. Make sure you get lots of chunky sweaters in different shades of white. And keep in mind that white goes with anything.

I think the reason people are so hung up on not wearing white after Labor Day is because in the past the fashion capital of the United States were places such as New York, because during the chilly Fall and those rough cold wet winters, it was much easier to just stick those dark colors that didn't show dirt and wetness. But those days are long gone. These days people are feeling a bit more natural and light in planning their wardrobes, so as to not be weighed down. This is why several versions of wearing white in those cold months come into play.

Also, in addition to white, bring out those other colors in your closet. Mix it up. Try a pair of Denim jeans with a white shirt and chunky wheat colored sweater, is a big hit at a night out with the girls, shopping or any other activity that doesn't require you to dress to the nines.  White is the perfect canvas of creativity and newness that designers can play with by adding color, texture and style to rev up those boring dark Fall and Winter colors. So push that darkness aside and get out there and work those whiter lighter colors and look timelessly chic.
