According to many experts, the "little black
dress" was first bought to light in 1926 when Gabrielle "Coco "
Chanel published a picture of a short, plain black dress in American Vogue.
The dress hit you at the calf, it was straight and decorated with diagonal
lines. Vogue called it "Chanel's Ford". Vogue also said that
the LBD would become "a sort of uniform for all women of taste".
Songs were made about that black
dress. Many timeless movies highlighted that black dress. Even when all else failed
for us women on the wardrobe home front, we resorted to our back-up plan, the
"little black dress."
So when you can't decide
what to wear to work and want to look professional, you can never go wrong with the "little black dress." Even when you're not
feeling sexy, feeling frumpy, you've gained a few pounds and feeling a little
bloated, or if you do feel sexy,
happy, free, and got it all going on. That black dress continues to do the trick.
Check out Kathy my office mate at her desk rocking the "little black dress" in our office. She paired it with a slip on black cover, because it tends to be a little cold. She looks professional and downright fabulous!
